Bloemfontein’s Boeremark Market is one of the oldest farmers’ markets in South Africa, established long before food markets became so popular. Held every Saturday at Bankovs Boulevard, this peaceful, outdoor market is full of stalls selling all kinds of organic food and fresh produce, magnificent cheeses and handcrafted treasures that will keep you coming back for more.
Rise early to get to Bloemfontein Boeremark Market in time because the produce sells fast and stalls close as soon as they are sold out. Rest assured, a little effort will be well worth it! The market is predominantly a fresh produce market so bring along your cooler box, or just rent a trolley at the gate.
Along with shopping for some of the freshest produce, you can also indulge in traditional South African fare made by serious food crafters. Find everything from melkkos, to pap and kaíngs, jaffels, milk tarts and sosaties, all freshly prepared.
There are also several coffee shops, stalls with handmade jewellery, furniture, cast-iron pots and lots more. There are even several demonstrations like candle making, bread baking, coffee roasting to name a few, that take place from time to time.
The Boeremark Market is one of South Africa’s best farmers’ markets, and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing shopping expedition.
